Many who have got to know me in more recent times would not be aware that I started my career as a photographer, and in the early years of my carreer I won some awards, including while still an amateur beating Fleet Street photographers to win a competition based around the London Marathon. But because I could write the Editor of my first newspaper had me take reporter qualifications, from which I moved into motoring writing. As a result my photography was increasingly sidelined, still used when needed as part of my job but as a pastime abandoned. This surprised older friends who remembered the passion I had applied to my photography.
More recently, however, I have been rediscovering my photography, something that has been quite a task as I have had to adapt to an entirely new technology with the rise of the digital age. But progress has been swift and most importantly I am greatly enjoying my photography, a vocation I should never have allowed to slip.
On these pages you will find examples of my work, both from the first and the new, modern era of my photographic career. I hope you like my pictures and it's worth coming back again as I intend this to be a moving visual feast, with regular updates. |
